Merseyventure - Previous Bespoke Events

Below is a small selection of the more interesting, and less ordinary events we have been delighted to organise for clients since 2000. We offer a very friendly, very flexible 'can do' service, from the first phonecall or email right through to the final results being posted. It's all in the detail.

BMW Channel4 - Three Peaks Challenge Video

Filmed over three weeks during late 2005 and early 2006, this video commission was a BMW M3 Toruing Car promo in conjunction with Channel4 Online. Production by Get Shorty Productions, the film involved interviews with the National Trust, National Parks Authority, local authorities and landownwers, mountain rescue teams, and Joss Naylor - the holder of the Three Peaks Challenge record of under 12 hours (set in 1971).

World Firefighter Games 08 - MTB Race, Llandegla

Merseyventure was proud to stage the International Mountain Biking Race for the WFG08, at Llandegla, north Wales. The WGG08 attracted over 3000 international entries, and over 100 top level cyclists took part in our MTB race, sanctioned by British Cycling and scrutineered by UCI. Electronic times were supplied by Mikrotime. The WFG08 website will remain live for a further year, and can be found HERE.

Act4Africa - No Laughing Matter

In 2007, Merseyventure organised the Act4Africa 'No Laughing Matter' Three Peaks Challenge. Twenty of the Uk's top comedians staged a sell out Comedy Gig at Oban, followed by a hectic and successful Three Peaks Challenge. Six vehicles and 14 staff ensured the comedians arrived at the venues on time for their gig, and kept them fed and watered during the weekend. Lierally thousands of pounds were raised for children in Africa during this novel and unique challenge. Act4Africa Three Peaks Challenge

The Mersey Forest - Forest Fever

The Mersey Forest wanted an event to promote a healthy lifestyle, outdoor education, and use of the Mersey Forest areas as part of their Forest Fever week of open events. Merseyventure organised an open team Urban Adventure Challenge which included canoeing, cycling, orienteering, trail running, and a unique 'rescue' stage - the original Rat Race..!

Youth Cancer Trust - Three Peaks Challenge

The Youth Cancer Trust had organised their own challenge, but wanted a professional organisation to become involved to address safety and delivery issues. Twenty large teams were entered into the challenge, and all arrived at the finish safely - still smiling. This was the busiest weekend of the year, and unfortunately other Challenge organisers required the services of mountain rescue five times due to poor control and support services in challenging conditions.

Coleman Exponent - Open Challenge Series 2008

For Coleman Exponent (EU) we provided a full Open Series of events. These included four Open National Three Peaks Challenges (with some 500 people taking part), a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with over 140 people attempting to walk 25 miles over the three highest mountains in Yorkshire in under 12 hours, a Welsh 3000's challenge, and two Adventure Races - one held in Snowdonia and one in the Lake District. These races included canoeing, mountain biking, night navigation, trail running and orienteering.

Zibrant - Three Peaks Challenge

Zibrant wanted a fully branded, bespoke invitation team building challenge, with pre-event team training days, that was open to clients in the events, promotion and service industry. The event should also fulfil Corporate Social Responsibility programme, promoting healthy living and enhancing local communities. Fourteen teams from the sector completed the Zibrant Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £30,000 for various charities.

Weightmans - Three Peaks Challenge

Weightmans Solicitors LLP required a fully organised Three Peaks Challenge for themselves and their clients, which included door-to-door transport, accommodation, mountain guides and full support. After successfully completing the challenge, Weightmans returned a few years later to attempt the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

Linda McCartney Centre - Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Over 80 supporters took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge of climbing Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough within 12 hours. Despite horrendous weather conditions on the mountains, climbers still managed to raise literally thousands of pounds for the Linda McCartney Centre.

Lawnet Twenty-twenty Challenge - Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge

Picture
Over 60 walkers from Lawnnet took part in this challenge weekend, climbing three of the best mountains the Yorkshire Dales has to offer. With Sport Ident timing, the event organised by Merseyventure finished with a BBQ and medals at Horton-In-Ribblesdale.
