Meet the Team for 2012...

Richie. Event Director at Merseyventure until Sept 2011. Richie started Merseyventure in 2000, with the first ever Merseyventure organised event being the Mersey Adventure Challenge, the original urban Adventure Race. This included mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering, climbing and trail running - all within the city..! Richie is currently taking a year off from Merseyventure as Event Director, but can still be found at some events - staffing checkpoints or driving support vehicles. Also available for Event Consulting.

Mountain Leader

Johnbo. Highly experienced in the world of Adventure Racing, Johnbo specialises in course building, access and permissions, and safety. Often spotted in a canoe, on the end of a rope, or leading a group on a Three Peaks Challenge, Johnbo's claim to fame is his appearance in the Merseyventure video for BMW/C4 - unfortunately no longer available on the internet.

Dislikes: Instant coffee and meat.

Mountain Leader

Frank. A UK Three Peaks Challenge veteran, Frank also leads world challenges and treks, as well as climbing expeditions a little closer to home. Frank often takes groups on Scafell Pike and Wasdale Familiarisation weekends, and is also a regular Yorkshire Three Peaks guide.

Dislikes: Too much head on a pint..!

Mountain Leader

Tony. Walk leader, driver, marshal and general support. All round good guy Tony likes to take on any challenge, and recently cycled the entire West Highland Way.  Also a senior local Parks Ranger.

Dislikes: People who leave litter.

Support

Pete. Previously limited to supporting teams at ground level, our ace photographer Pete has found a taste for the outdoors adventure, and is currently training to lead groups. Until qualified, you may meet Pete cooking your meal, taking your team photo, driving your minibus, or staffing a checkpoint.

Dislikes: Water on his lens and teams that can't say 'cheese'.

Support

Keith. One of our top event drivers and support staff, Keith has completed the Three Peaks, Coast to Coast, West Highland Way, Karrimor Mountain Marathon and ACE Races Adventure Races, as well as many other Adventure Challenges. A great person to have on your team...

Dislikes: Dance music and early mornings.

Driver

Lee Three Peaks Driver
Lee. A legend in his own trousers. Lots of you have been entertained by Lee, and many a back seat passenger has regretted asking Lee to try and 'make up some time' through the Lake District. Our minibuses may be limited to 62mph, but Lee can drive them at a constant 62mph - that includes the mountain passes...!

Dislikes: Slow drivers.

Driver

Three Peaks Challenge Driver
Formula 1 Simon. The alternative untamed driving sensation. Serves the best Chilli and tells the worst jokes, Simon is at home in the drivers seat of our small or large minibuses, but simply can't understand why you guys want to get out of a perfectly good vehicle to climb up some steep mountains in the dark, the wet, the windy...

Dislikes: Mountains.

Staff Three Peaks Challenge 08

Merseyventure staff on the summit of Scafell, 0300 hours 8th October 2008. There is no better training than getting the staff to complete a Three Peaks Challenge in simply horrendous conditions at the start of winter. And they are all still smiling..!

Completed the challenge in under 23 hours, despite the 62 mph limited minubus.

Other Mountain & Support Staff

Merseyventure organises and delivers events which may well require 30 staff or more, and we have a bank of qualified mountain leaders and outdoor instructors, experienced support staff, drivers and marshals, and often use the help of volunteers who just want to get out into the fresh air and join in..!

If you require qualified or experienced staff for your event, please just get in touch.
